New City, NY – Please join Rockland Conservation & Service Corps, their friends and supporters as we celebrate the accomplishments of the 2018 Conservation Corps from 1-4 pm on Thursday, August 9th at the Rockland County Fire Training Center, 35 Firemen’s Memorial Drive, Pomona.
Twenty-One Conservation Corps Members will be showcasing demonstrations that summarize key environmental concepts, projects and achievements accomplished at eight site placements throughout the Rockland region. Projects include: the maintenance and construction of walking and hiking trails, drainage and flooding mitigation on behalf of several municipalities, recycling initiatives and outreach with the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority, Hudson River Fish Advisory with Cornell Cooperative Extension, among many others.
Presentations involve demonstrations, videos and other creative projects that highlight the Conservation Corps’ summer of service to Rockland. These engaging displays will also educate about important local environmental issues.
Presentations will begin at 1 pm and pause at 2 pm to feature guest speakers and award presentations. Demonstrations will resume after guest speakers and continue until 4 pm. The event is “Open House” style, so audience members are free to attend the event within any time frame they wish.
